An brand new multiplayer ranked mode is coming to Killer Instinct Xbox One this February and it will set an all precedent on ranked matches in the game. Here is all of the info you need to know as of this time provided by Iron Galaxy’s Kraig in today’s textual stream:
Ranked Leagues are a Monthly Ladder Race to find the Top 32 Killers. At the end of each month, the Top 32 players in the Killer Ladder will be rewarded with “Pro Status”, a status that will be permanently anchored onto you player card. More on that later.
To begin your ascension, first you have to Qualify. This is something everyone must do, and as you probably guessed, EVERYONE’S RANK will be reset in 2.4. But that’s OK, the qualifier is awesome, and you want to play it.
The Qualifier Round gives you 10 matches to show us what you’ve got. Based on your performance in these rounds, you will be slotted in one of three Ladder Tiers:
• Bronze
• Silver
• Gold
Then you must fight to advance to KILLER

Once you are qualified and slotted, there is no going back. You will never need to Qualify again, and you will never drop down a Ladder Tier. You will, however, need to fight your way up through the Tiers to get to KILLER, where the Battle for the Top 32 begins. Tiers are also used to match-make players. Whenever possible, Bronze vs. Bronze players, Silver vs. Silver, and so on will face off. You need to win matches to gather enough points to be ‘Promoted’ to the next tier. Once you are at your new tier, you can never fall backwards!
First, and foremost, Killer Matches are now BEST 2 OUT OF 3! Second of all, everyone is no longer worried about being promoted… they are all striving to be immortalized in the Top 32 for that month before time expires. If you make it, you are awarded “Pro” Status. Think of it like Prestiging!
Becoming immortalized in the Top 32 means a couple of things: First, your Player Card will recognize your successes. This is a work-in-progress mock-up of a KILLER TIER PLAYER who has made pro a whopping 12 times:
Second, you’ll be slotted into Pro Leaderboards that show who got Pro and how many times. Oh, and you might have noticed are RANK TITLES are back and in the Player Card. They’re attached to the Tiers and you’ll need to re-earn them – but they’re there. So let’s say you don’t make the Top 32 for that month. Then what? You’ll get another shot right away. Once you’re in Killer you STAY in Killer. Everyone’s Killer record is reset and the next month’s battle begins again.

It says promotion but doesn’t rank me up anymore from bronze
Finally made it to killer! Took about a hundred fights. It was pretty hard but once I got in my zone I was going on 10 game winning streaks. I was worried bout if I would lose the killer tier but I see once you make it you stay. I love the fact it resets each month. It give those like me that’s new to the tier a chance to compete cause it’s no way I’m catching up to the guys that’s already top 32 in points…

not that interested what the game needs is a way better campaign mode waaaaay better endings.more one player modes…and please please please more stage ultras and double character stages.
First off it’s hard to get into a online match. Secondly I agree this is for the ultra good players and probably won’t be a big boost. Honestly the game is starting to get boring now. Wake me up when you guys add more stage ultras, ultimates, humiliations, and maybe some kind of team mode. Not necessarily like MVC (though that could be cool). I’d like a more in-depth story and fresher dialog.
No care. Revamp story mode and bring in some stage ultras that look more like the old knock offs.
No interest in this. I play ranked to play against random people. Exhibition keeps you with the same person till sometime backs out and that to me isn’t much fun unless it’s a friend.
i like it! been playing a lot of ranked matches and honestly the match ups are discouraging. everytime i get to a level up match…its against someone with a higher ranking and they knock me right back down. by the time i am done playing i’m right back down to level 1 again. very discouraging!
not everyone is good at this game, maybe you should spend more time on story mode or other modes that aren’t online where you have to play against top players all the time. just a thought. this mode is only for elite players which most are not. zero interest in this.
