I happen to be that “someone” in the chat who come up with the idea…. I can’t believe it’s made it this far! I tweeted Adam after the stream and its exciting to think I might have actually influenced the game in a small way!
I used to think this would have been a fantastic idea, unfortunately online is plagued with Rage Quitters so I haven’t finished a match in about a week. At this point, if anyone leaves their console on after I win I feel that is enough sign of respect.

I must say, this is a fantastic idea! HOLD for respect.
Hold for respect. Holding means you actually care (you deliberately press the button longer), while tapping is something quicker, less meaningful.
When i play, i verbally say “how is it going?” before the match using Kinect. After the match, say “good match”! Some people have the option set to “on”, on their Kinect. I don’t taunt, and most of the time i do the quick ULTRA! Old school gamer (RESPECT)!
I’m all for it. Right now the online community when playing against other players is very toxic. Maybe it’ll get better when the next Xbox Firmware patch rolls out and people can view players they recently played with and rate/report them.
I do think the game needs to add some sort of the design incentive to reward players for not acting like dicks online. Tea bagging, repeated taunting, trash talking and rage quitting does not make for a fun online experience. If they were to add a respect taunt it might help, but I feel people would still make it feel degrading. Perhaps at the end of a ranked match add the option for each player to rate the opponent on various factors (Combos, mind games, respect, ect…) even if it’s just for stat tracking.

Just use r3 or L3 for second maybe third taunt. Or hold a direction down and push taunt for multiple taunts
