One of the biggest controversies surrounding Killer Instinct Xbox One has been its often broken “Jail System”–a system Double Helix put in place in an attempt to reduce the sheer amount of rage quitting from salty players. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out quite as planned with innocent players often being jailed when they shouldn’t be. So what’s the solution? A new and better system, which is exactly what the new Killer Instinct developers at Iron Galaxy are working on!
Confirmed by Microsoft’s Mike Robles earlier today, Iron Galaxy is working on a better system for KI’s second season. In addition to that, they’ve even put together a survey asking how familiar you are with the current jail system and whether or not it should be turned off with the next update or left on. I suggest those of you reading this post to hit the link below and take the survey, as your opinion on the matter is very important, however brief the survey may be.

And with that being said i just hit a major combo on this guy the first game after im out of jail he rage quit after the first energy bar and im back in jail until tomorrow they should have been fixed this or should release and update immediately to take it off for now until they fix it properly at least but i do agree just make it the quitter gets their lost the winner gets their win if friends wanna boost the stats then so be it if someone disconnect give them a lost so they can boost at their on expense you’ll never be able to make a 100% free booster or rage quitter free game and i refuse to play in jail its to aggravating and stressful and the people in their all suck and are horrible so it looks like im done playing ki until tomorrow lol
Broken jail system is why I don’t play as often. As soon as someone rage quits or game freezes on character selection screen, I’m jailed. This keeps me from playing. Get rid of the jail system, rage quitters should simply get a loss and the other guy gets a win, how hard is it to implement this logic??!!
Surprisingly difficult it seems. My guess is that they don’t want people artificially bumping up their gamer score by having friends intentionally rage quit to give someone else wins. People are going to troll no matter what. Just leave it alone. Ignoring trolls is always the best defense. I say let them do that. It just makes their failure all the more epic when the face someone with a REAL high-ranking gamer score.
And at the same time they will be given karma for just that. Above all karma’s a bitch for them

This jail system is so aggravating because people have disconnected and quit on me so much that as soon as I get out of jail and someone quits im in there for another 24hrs and its too hard to rank up because there are nothing but lower ranks in jail and it makes me not wanna play anymore
I feel like jail is a good idea but honestly you can never stop rage quitters because if they would still rage quit after being throw in jail so I think the jail thing was a good idea but its not really needed what I think they should do is like madden used to do online where they give you the option when someone rage quits to consider it a friendly quit or penalize the quitting player still giving you the xp anyway because most of them rage quit to not lose their rank but if they put that in then its impossible for them not to lose it because rage quit or not it will still be the same outcome.
I agree with Adam. This current survey is too small. I actually answered ‘No’ to the second question because I am not currently affected by it. When it was first implemented however, I faced many frequent disconnections and as a result wrongfully ended up in jail. I even received a message from a person who had purposefully disconnected in the hopes of putting me in jail because I beat him the previous few matches (to which he also disconnected from). I believe his message was something along the lines of “Haha now you’re in jail c*nt, f*ck you”. Jail was a lovely idea, they just need to make it do what it was supposed to for those still negatively and unfortunately wrongfully affected by it.
Ah man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that happened to u before including what that jackass did to u. Hopefully karma would come get and be on him sooner or later and overall karma’s a bitch
Cheers Mike!
I know, hopefully Iron Galaxy understand the extent of the problem and how people have been abusing it! I hope they have another questionnaire soon with more in-depth questions.
Indeed and cheers to u back
Yes, let’s hope so too especially for the sake of all the INNOCENT KI players who have been WRONGFULLY been given and sent to jail time by the (somewhat) flawed jail system
This happened to me last night….was completely destroying someone in a match that was a rank-up for me,got rage-quit on before his 1st bar was gone, and I’m not sure if I got credit for a win,but it indeed gave me my rank-up anyways…..hmmm
I appreciate Microsoft’s intentions in putting this survey out but it was way too short (2 questions). To the first question: ‘How familiar are you with the jail system?’ I answered very familiar. Then, the 2nd (and last question) was asking if the jail system should be removed until season 2. I answered Yes because I can’t seem to stay out of jail due to rage quitters. I’ve never quit once and am stuck in jail. However, I know that the people who are not in jail will answer “No” to the final question.
I thought that once you started an ultra…..even if your opponent rage quits you still get the W! The system was supposed to recognize the ultra animation and no matter when they quit as long as you have started your ultra you are good…….LIES!! I have missed out on countless victories and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one…
