In Microsoft’s announcement and screenshot showcase of the graphical changes coming to Killer Instinct: Season 3 yesterday, they also announced that the new season will be receiving three new stages. Many fans were confused by this statement. Does that mean the game will launch with three new stages? Does it mean three new stages in total? The answer is the latter. Microsoft and Killer Instinct Community Manager Rukizzel confirmed on the Ultra-Combo forums that Season 3 will only be receiving three brand new stages.
The reasoning behind this decision hasn’t been fully clarified. A portion of it it seems is due to the time and money that went into reworking and relighting all previous Season 1 and 2 stages. The stage development budget could have also been pushed to fund something else instead. Perhaps more new characters? A better story campaign? An entirely new mode? I know there are a lot of questions and concerns at the moment regarding the decision that was made and I’m sure both Microsoft and Iron Galaxy are desperately itching to tell us why. I’m sure it’s all with good reason and hopefully all of us KI fans will be satisfied with the pay off.
There’s nothing more to share for the time being but be sure that we will once more news on Season 3 becomes available. Until then, stay tuned to KIC for the latest Killer Instinct news and updates!
If this is the case, Season 1 had 9 characters, 8 stages! Season 2 had 9 characters, 8 stages! Season 3 might have 9 characters but only 3 stages! I’m fine with a community fund for the missing 5 stages (Rash doesn’t need 1 since he does break through each stage from the sky)! Although Eyedol and Gargos could share the same stage (bridge over lava which they could both be stage ultra’d into)! We then could have a secret sky stage for the final 1! The last thing I wish they would do is a simple Arcade ladder with the last 3 fights being Aria, Eyedol and ending with Gargos followed by each fighters ending after victory!
Im not too excited about only 3 stages. Each character having their own stage is something that really set KI apart. I do hope something changes their minds about this. I love KI and the characters, them having their own stages really made me feel good inside. Like these characters were really out there when the game was turned off or something. Like they had a place to live.
iron galaxy has mentioned in the past & recently, it all comes down to budget, yeah we may not get all the new stages we were looking for, but a whole lot of momey gets put into new stages & it may not be all affordable for 9 characters to get brand new stages. but perhaps we might get new modes? or a full length cinematic story mode to compensate? we’ll have to wait & see, till then im still hyped for season 3 & iron galaxy has never let me down!
I do hope there is more stages to be revealed down the line.
An one other thing to the guy calling sombody noob I don’t know wat you mean by that must be calling your own self one so you so you getting mad at the wrong guy because ppl want 8 new stages an you getting mad at that it just stupid a game going to come out wat it is if it come or not an take a look at rash do you see him with a stage no but until then keep my words about 8 stages out of your mouth also iron galaxy will let us know wen season 3 we just have to wait an see because next month not long to come that all I’m say an nothing more good guys season 3 coming
Who ever keep putting me bad rate I’m put a bad rate right back on them too I’m just want answer to be nice to see if we get 8 characters or not that’s all I’m asking
Eyedol tem que voltar
To look at those pictures side by side there is a big difference. This will be good.
MORE NEW stages for Killer Instinct Season 3, pretty please
@Michael
This is a big disappointment I agree. I think they may readjust the background from previously made stages as the new stages for the new characters like they Did with Jago and Shadow Jago, like with Maya’s stage being during day and her Sister who may be in Season 3 will be the same stage but only at night. I’m pretty sure the last stage will go to Tusk since Kim Wu and Arbiter have a stage but I am almost certain Tusk will share his stage with Arbiter if he does share one.
Now what about Rash? Is he going to get his very own stage by any chance or not exactly sure on that?
*Is he going to get his very own stage as well
@Michael
I’m guessing he’ll probably share a stage or no since when his trailer premiere in August at Gamescom, they never showed a stage for him.
I can live with only 3 stages as long as we get 8 characters with their own theme music.
So they will have 8 characters but not 8 stages I see wat they doing now no need to get mad about long we get the characters
Eu espero o retorno de Eyedol
So then I have to wonder what was the point of replacing Mick Gordon with Celldweller & Atlas Plug?? Speculating that 3 stages = 3 new music tracks.. will be interesting to see how this plays out
They better be overcompensating in another area of the game for this because, 3 out of 9 is a terrible ratio.
I’d rather have more characters than stages. It’s cool they’re upgrading the quality of the current stages. Arbiter having his own stage is kinda a waste since he’s only a guest character. Oh, well. Would be sweet if we get an unlockable Sky Stage like KI1 & KIGold had.
I also loved that each character had it’s own stage. Why only 3?
9 Characters and only 3 stages, so lets recap we have seen the kim wu stage and arbiter stage so what is the 3rd and final stage.
Shut the fuck up. Anyone bitching about lack of content is a god damn drone, its a fighting game. You play it online against other players or you go to tourneys and play with others offline. Who gives a fuck about single player shit or not having game modes or 8 stages this season. You fuckin noobs.
There is nothing to be mad about here. The game will have 21 stages in total. That is a whole lot more that MKX and SFV. It was a gift to get so many stages for a fighting game. I would certainly take new game modes, a better story, or more characters over stages.
That means no 8 characters right why they not put eight new stages
super lame. 3 stages?? always feels we are getting shorted on options with this game.
look, its nice that theyve been updating us on the games progress but cliffhangers like these are just not cool. im not going to blamw anyone since it isnt clear whos responsible, but who in there right mind seriously thought it was a good idea to leave such a vague statement with no follow up details? i know we are going to see more info in 5 days but why couldnt we be told then? a lot of sacrifices get made when deving KI all the time i know, but we were always at least told why and this? this is a HUGE sacrifice.
i know the stages cost a lot of time and money (almost as much as a character) but it wasnt NOT worth it. to many people like me, the stages are as importsnt as a character so lets wait and see how they justify this lmao
Yep like not putting so much time into shadow characters and over the top comical ones! Seems like their was plenty of money and time for that regardless of what paying fans think!
It will work out fine I like the facelift they gave the stages. Awsome
If it was any other game i would not be bothered but for me with Killer instinct the stages tell a story for the character and that adds to the whole appeal. I would imagine as well as Kim wu, Tusk will get his own stage and then that is the entire cast from previous games taken care of, but knowing that there will be no stages for new characters will make it feel a little bit incomplete. They have a poll up though saying what people would like after season 3 and now i will vote for new stages
This could be disastrous. I’ll save judgement for S3, but I love the different stages for every character.
